Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj
Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 9
(English Translation of series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)
Parmatma and nature are not different. As in yesterday’s illustration we saw that the Elephant and Plastic are not different. Plastic was known to few people but almost all considered it as elephant only.
Similarly the world is only Parmatma; can neither be thought nor perceived by anyone except by enlightened person.
Elephant is visible where as Plastic is invisible. Plastic material as such is known to everyone, from children to aged alike, however Parmatma is neither known to anybody nor That attributeless, formless can be perceived by anyone.
In such situation enlightened Sages (Rishi, Munis) have formulated other rituals, devotion, yog etc so many ways and practices, to understand Parmatma and for the benefaction of the people. Because knowing and understanding Parmatma is in itself attaining Parmatma, knowledge and understanding self, which we also call self knowledge or self realization.
The basic aim of the Sages to adopt these ways is to make the intellect subtle so as to enable experiencing Parmatma. This experience is through Knowledge (Dhnyan) which is also called Realisation of Parmatma, experiencing unification with Parmatma.
Looking at the indispensability of subtle intellect, many alternative practices for purification of mind had been formulated. Because subtleness of intellect is impossible without purification of mind.
Right from childhood we are taught devotion towards God, so that our mind is always pure. However in reality as we keep on growing, we start getting enjoyment in relationships and material things to such an extent that we neither give much time for devotion towards God, nor we think seriously about it.
Yes, culturally we do believe in God and during festival or otherwise also some amount of adoration and worship is done by everybody.
Whenever in our happy life the situations inciting worry, miseries, fear of mishap, agony and suffering of mind and body, disease, happen; we start praying God in a very touching way.
We visit fortune tellers, visit temple, do rituals penance, practices, name recitation, visit satsang, undertake pilgrimage, undertake holy bath, visit spiritual persons etc. In diseases we tend to become overtly religious.
However whenever situation is near normal then our enjoyment of life again keeps on increasing.
Some people inspite of their being believer and having good nature do not have any respite to their sufferings. Daily they have to face new problems. These kind of people specifically become more religious so as to tolerate more and more agonies.
Educated and scholarly people are also among them who concede defeat from this life of misfortune and starts thinking, what is all this?
Why I have to suffer these many miseries?
I have not incurred any sin in my life and always recited God’s name.
Then why this failure, insult, miseries, poverty, hardship to me?
Whether this God has some sense of justice or not?
Or whether entity like God is existing at all?
In this way the persons with sharp intellect, suffering intense miseries either become atheist – communist or start thinking very deeply.
Who would have made God?
Where would be God?
Where he would be residing, taking food, water etc?
Where from so much power is accrued to God? How the nature, universe would have been made? How human being would have been made?
How the account of acts of every moment of thousands of lives of billions of people would be kept and alloted the happiness and miseries accordingly. Etc etc.
Brilliant persons like these; facing intense agonies, if they do have past good deeds, then with blessings from God, receive inner inspiration to meet Guru immediately. The person then does not bother either for the relationships of near and dear ones nor for wealth, property, home etc. Such a person surely is able to find an enlightened, competent Guru.
The person then puts his heart to Guru by saying,
“Durvarsansardawagnitaptam dodhuyamanam durdrushtwateih bhitam prapannam paripahi mrutyoh sharannyamanyadhyadaham na jane।।”
Oh Guru! The miseries and agonies of this world which are neither avoidable nor bearable for me are tormenting me every moment of my life like a wilde fire. I am frightened and shattered With the wind of wicked misfortune. Oh God please save me. I am surrendered to you the only savior! Now I neither know anyone else nor believe in anybody else. Oh Supreme benovelant, You are the only savior! please save me.
Enlightened Guru is the ocean of benovalance. Guru is also touched by the honest words uttered deeply from the bottom of the heart, with repentance and the tragedy being faced by the man. To alienate the sorrows and miseries of others is the Characteristics of the enlightened Guru.
