Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj
Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 11
(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Parampoojya Swami Anilji Maharaj)
Spiritual person is the person who understands the difference between Atma and Anatma. Spirituality (Adhyatm) has been very clearly defined by Lord Shrikrishna in third verse of eighth chapter of Gita.
“Swabhavoo..dhyatmuchyate”
Our own self, Atma (jeevatma ) is known as Adhyatm.
Adhyatm comprises of only two words, adhi+Atma! (search or understanding Atma). If definition given by Lord is true then sadhus sant sadhwis, who are not on the path of understanding Atma or not having understanding of Atma – Anatma vivek; are surely religious however
they have still to strive for becoming spiritual. That way persons who daily lights incense and bows before God say with pride that, “I am a spiritual person”.
We have seen yesterday that Lord Shrikrishna has called himself as Atma. Now think over who does not understand Atma how he can he know Lord Shrikrishna? He may be worshiping, doing recitation of lords name etc throughout his life but how can he recognize the lord whose name he is reciting during whole of his life?
In Atharvashirsh (Shri Ganesh stotra) Lord Ganesh has been addressed as Atma.
“Twam Atma asi nityam”.
Lord Ramchandra is also Atma in reality. There is no God who is not Atma.
We must understand The names of all the Gods are the various names of Atma only; though the form and illustrative teachings may be different.
That is why when Hindu person is walking on a street, he bows to God in every temple he comes across. It does not happen that he would bow in Lord Hanuman temple and will not bow in Lord Shankar temple. And surprisingly that devotee prays to the every God in each temple that you are the only savior. He doesn’t say in ShriRam temple that my savior is Lord Shrikrishna, however your temple was on the way so I visited and bowed before you. That devotee prays to the every God in each temple that you are the only savior.
Every Hindu devotee bows before every God and his Guru with anyana bhav (the intention of the respective God or Guru is the only savior, nobody else.)
If somebody is questioned that what is this anyana bhav (attitude of only you and no one else?) someone says, “I am devotee of Bhagawan Shrikrishna alone. I don’t believe in anybody else, that is why I am devotee of Bhagawan Shrikrishna with anyana bhav (the attitude of only Him and no one else). The other devotee says, ” I believe in Lord Shiva and no other God, I am his devotee with anyana bhav. The third person says, I am devotee of Saibaba with anyana bhav, do not believe in anybody else.
However not believing in the other Gods and keeping on saying so is not the anyana bhav. Then what does that mean? Can you please tell?
For understanding what is meant by Anyana bhav we will have to refer to the Supreme Court. We Hindus have only one Supreme Court, that is, Shruti! Shruti alias Vedant or Upanishads! Yes! Shruti is the mother of All the Hindu Scriptures.
The Authority of Shruti is recognized by all Gods, Shastras, Sages, Rishi, Munis, Sadus, Sants, Sadhwis etc. All are required to recognize the authority otherwise would be declared opposing Vedas. Would be termed as non believers in basic Principles of Hindu Religion.
Now we will refer to that Knowledge Scripture, first to get incarnated on this earth. The name being, “Brihadarannyak Upnishad”, and we will look at the ruling given in the Adhyay 4, Brahman 4, Mantra 19 :
“Manaseivanudrashtavyam neha nanasti ।
Mrutyoh Sa Mrutyumapnoti ya eha nanev pashyati।।”
Comment (Bhyashya) : The mind which has been purifed and trained to the extent of Spiritual Knowledge (Parmartha Dhnyan) has been dissolved in to it; only with such a mind, as per the advice of enlightened Guru, understanding Brahma (Parmatma) is to be undertaken.
In Brahma (Either experienced with senses or not experienced) there is no duality (meaning there exists only one not two or more).
Even without any existence of duality, who ever with their ignorance put the accusation of having multiplicity in the nature or world are going from death to death.
That is; (they) Keep on facing death in every species’ life , the cycle of death from life of one specie to another goes on, never attain immortality.
When everything is one and only one, then how the Gods with various names can be different? All Gods are Brahma, that is Atma only. Then who are us human beings? We are also Atma only! Then whether devotee and God are also one? Yes!
Absolutely; devotee and God are one only. Not different at all, if we believe Shruti as the proof!
In this way, with this thought in mind that all this is Atma only and nothing else and the God whom I adore and worship, He, Himself is full nature or Brahma, is the anyana bhav.
Now the question is with both being one, Bhagawan is omniscient and ever delightful then why human is ignorant and suffering? This subject we will deal in the chapter of Maya. Tomorrow we will study the Shrutis depicting oneness of Atma.
