Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj
Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 16
(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)
Guru gives learnings of the falsehood of the world to his disciples. It may be difficult to digest the falsehood of the world which is being experienced all the time, however not impossible.
Till the man does not make up his mind that this world is false like dream, it is impossible to end his sufferings. The cycle of having One after the other situations with grief, misery and sorrows is nature of human life.
Till it is known that the snake hiding in my house, is not a snake, it is merely a piece of roap, my worries can not end. The tellings of Shruti and Bhagawan Shankaracharya that world is merely an illusion, can be understood only with Atmadhnyan. There is no other way!
Therefore with our intellect, with the help of Shruti mother and surrendering oneself to the Guru, serving with innocence; we must understand Atma!
We are not aware that after lakhs of births, this intellectual human form we got; how long it would be available to us!
Maharshi Yadhnyavalkya advised his beloved wife that Atma only deserves to be understood, “see Atma”. This is a direction from Shruti too.
There are many Shrutis telling to see Atma. Based on these Shrutis, in the books authored by upteen number of yogis, “how to see Atma and how Realisation can be done”, is written.
In the book of one of the Yogis it is written that Atma is seen during meditation in the form of luminous blue color. In many any yog related books similar description is there.
It is also written that during meditation Lord Shrikrishna is seen in blue form and that is Atma. However this is merely said in the praise of meditation and which also is necessary. Every practice starts with praise of the fruits (those could be obtained by the practice ).
Doubt: Swamiji Scriptures are clearly stating that Dhyan Yogi can understand Atma. “Yogibhirdhyanagamyam” and “Dhyanavasthitatadgaten manasa pashyanti yam yogino” meaning – Yogis during meditation with mind in Parmatma, see HIM.
Answer : Dhyangamya means, can be understood by dhyan. Dhyanyogis have been advised to know Parmatma through mind that is by thinking not by eyes. What kind of thinking? With the thoughts of Vedant. Meaning of sight is to be taken as Understanding or Knowledge, Dhnyan.
In fact meaning of “look at (see)” is not always looking by eyes. Like somebody says look at my work, means go through the work and not looking by eyes.
If disciples of Dhyan yog or Bhakti (devotion) yog understand “look or see” as vision with form, it may be acceptable for them. However seekers of Dhnyan yog must imprint on their mind that wherever Shruti says, “See Atma”, “look at Atma”, “realise Atma”; means, “Understand Atma”
Bhagwan Yamaraj has told Nachiketa in no uncertain terms as given in Kathopnishad 1 – 3 – 12 that
“एष सर्वेषु भूतेषु गुढोत्मा न प्रकाशते।
दृष्यते त्वग्रया बुद्धया सूक्ष्मया सूक्ष्मदर्शिभिः ।।”
Esh sarveshu bhooteshu gudhotma na prakashate ।
Drushyate tvagraya budhhaya sookshmaya sookshmadarshibhihi ।।
Atma concealed in the whole world, formed with five Mahabhootas, never gets revealed (to the mind and five senses). This secretly hidden Parmatma can be seen only with intense sharp intellect.
Wherever Shruti tells to see Atma, is simply telling to see with intellect meaning begetting the Knowledge and Understanding.
This Smruti also provides us this knowledge,
“Naham prakashaha sarvasya yogmaya samavrutaha”
(Lord Shrikrishna – Gita 7 – 25)
“Covered by Yogmaya I am not visible to all.”
Knowledge (Dhnyan) seekers can conclude that even in dhyan yog without the knowledge of Upanishads; to beget vision of Parmatma meaning Knowledge of Parmatma or Understanding is impossible. This is the opinion of Bhagawan Shankaracharya. Other people might have some other opinions, we don’t have any dispute with those.
However if it was possible to have self realization with dhyanyog then Mahayogis like Bhagawan Budhh and Mahavir would not have differed from Vedas!
Doubt: Swamiji Lord Shrikrishna had also told that, “Eshwarah sarvabhootanam rhuddeshe Arjun tishthati”, Gita 18-61.
“Oh Arjun God is in the hearts of all the beings.
Answer : your doubt is valid.
Lord is surely staying in the hearts of everybody. However Knowledge Seekers have to understand what this heart is. This is not the heart that is known as a body organ to the people. This heart is used to denote the intellect space.
