Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj
Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana…31
(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)
The thinking that Atmadhnyan needs the study of hundreds of Scriptures of thousands pages is wrong. In my personal opinion, Atmadhnyan sadhana is thousand times easier than supposedly easy devotional Sadhana, and ten thousand times easier than yog Sadhana!
What is Atmadhnyan? The luminosity of Atmadhnyan is innumerable times brighter than the Sun. Atmadhnyan which illuminates the Sun and the whole Universe can this knowledge remain hidden?
A very fine micron level curtain exists between The Knowledge and Ignorance! That’s all! Can even break by Just a blowing off through the mouth and we will become Self Realised! Only need to tear off the curtain through blowing!
However the man gets a right to blow the curtain only when he comes out of, “I, me, mine” and fully surrender himself to the Guru.
Some intellectual Knowledge Seekers can not get rid of this attachment. By reading some scriptures they think that, “I also know something”. Before getting into the state of begetting doubtless, firm and unshakable Knowledge; they become ready to debate and give discourses based on bookish knowledge. But untill the truth is realised through actual experience, there is merely indirect knowledge or ignorance!
To bless with Self Realisation is solely at the discretion of Parmatma. Without HIS grace and benignity everything are mere words and arguments.
So the Knowledge Seekers should keep patience till attaining the experience of Self Realisation and keep continuing Shavan-Manan-Nididhsan till then.
The knowledge bestowed by Shruti keeps on developing depending upon the maturity level of the Knowledge Seeker. Shruti transcends the level of Knowledge depending upon Sadhana step qualified by the Seeker.
This makes it essential to have guidance from an experienced Self Realised Guru.
Beware of ego based thinking that,
“I know the meaning of Shruti.” Shruti has depicted by many ways the creation of the Nature by telling, at first there was Sat or Asat.
How the human, animals, man, woman are created has been told. But all these are for leading the Seekers in appropriate direction and for his initial satisfaction. This is not the main aim of the Shruti. Shruti does not accept two or more (duality).
The experience of Dhnyani merged with Parmatma can not be put in words, Shruti also becomes speechless. After attainment of Dhnyan there is no need to refer to Shruti (Vedant).
Bhagwan Acharya writes
Na hi nadhya: parago navam n muchhati yatheshta deshgamanam prati swatantrye sati ।।
After crossing the river bed, when a person is free to go to his desired destination, it will never happen that he will not leave the ferry.
(notwithstanding this, Dhnyani compassionately tells or writes by giving reference to Shruti for the sake of advancement of mumukshu (Dhnyan seeker))
We will discuss this subject later on in details. To day we have to study on the subject of our body with five covers. ‘Make the exceptions of each these five covers and the remnant, “I”, is the omnipresent Atma’ , has been depicted in details in many scriptures.
Reading with proper attention; the adhyarope – apavad verses, from Prakaran Granth, Vivek Chudamani, written by Bhagwan Shankaracharya; one understands that, “I am only Atma”.
Human beings have five covers
- Annamaya kosh (food cover, body)
- Pranmaya kosh (pran, gaseous cover)
- Manomay kosh (mind cover)
- Vidhnyanmaya kosh (intellect cover)
- Anandmaya kosh
(Joyous cover)
All these five covers are adhyaropit on Atma, means it is presumed that Atma is hidden within them. That is why by making exception of these one by one we can attain the knowledge of Atma. Let us understand the process in brief.
Annamaya kosh : It grows by eating food, weaken and whither without food that is our body, the annamaya kosh, is cover on Atma. Atma (I) is the witness of the body, body related activities, childhood – youth etc states. This reveals clearly that body can not be Atma.
Pranamay kosh : Comprising of five action organs this pranmaya kosha is made up of gases which keeps entering and leaving the body. This all the time dependent kosh can stop working any time; destroying the action organs. So this cannot be Atma because Atma is immortal.
Manomaya kosh : Comprising of five senses and mind forms this powerful kosh which is mainly responsible for imagining, I, me, mine “. This is the experience of everybody, that during sleep due to merging of mind, nothing remains. This shows that sansar is the creation of mind not a reality. Mind only imagines the worldly bond and release or Liberation.
With attainment of Vivek (discretion) and Vairagya (detachment), mind becomes satvik mind, which leads to (becomes the cause, causative) Liberation. In Detached, conscious, sentinel jeev; ego, various attachments and desires are created by mind only. Mind can not be Atma as it has beginning and end, it’s states keep on changing and it has sadness. Atma does not have sadness, beginning, end, change of states, nothing of these.
