Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 10
(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)
Person with Earlier good deeds and sharp intellect surrenders to enlightened Guru and prays for respite from the worldly sorrows and agonies.
Shri Guru tells him in his support and pacification
” Adhnyanyogat paramatmanastava hyanatam bandhastata Eva sansrutih।
Tayorvivekodita boudha vanhirdhnyankaryam pradahetsmulmukh।।”
You have forgotten that you are Brahma yourself. You are ignorant about your original self. You are involved in your body and related material things (anatma things) and got bound by them making you to suffer such miseries and agonies. Whenever you will deeply study and understand what is Atma and what is Anatma then fire of Knowledge would rise inside burning ignorance and sufferings generated by ignorance.
“Na yogen sankhyen karmana na vidhyaya ।
Brahmatmeikyatva
Bodhen mokshah
Sidhyati na anyatha ।।
Veennya roopsoundaryam tanrtivadan soushthavam।
praja
ranjanamantram
Tanna samrajyay kalpate।।
Vagvaikhari shabdazari shatsra vyakhyan koushalam।
Vaidusham Vidusham tadvabhduktaye na tu muktaye।।
You must understand that any kind of yog, logics, action and rituals like devotion, yadhnya, you will never attain emancipation wich makes you free from all the bondages of agonies, sorrows, sufferings and happiness.
Attaining Emancipation is possible only with the knowledge of oneness of your Jeeva (self conceit consciousness – ahankaryukta chetana) and Brahma by nothing else.
Let this be very very clear to you that, beautiful Sitar (instruments like drum, harmonium etc) and excellent skill for playing instruments (art of singing devotional songs in melodious voice) all these are only for the purpose of entertainment . These are of no use in attaining Emancipation.
Learned orators, Skillful trained people in delivering lectures, narrating stories, their profound bookish knowledge, ability to keep the people spellbound with their deliverance, master of words and languages; all these provide mere material enjoyment. This is not the way towards Emancipation.
This precious guidance by Bhagwan Adhya Shankaracharya is the experienced truth of enlightened persons. This leads to the conclusion that for quick attainment of self realization we need to understand quickly the difference between Atma and Anatma.
The example of the plastic elephant was to illustrate the principle of Atma Anatma vivek (discretion, wisdom). People got carried away by looking at the outer resemblance and the name; and started taking it as live elephant. In Shastras this is termed as wachavikar (taking for granted (believe) just by name and form).
The famous verse (shruti) from chhandogya upnishad is,
“vachrambhan vikaro namdheyam mruttiketyeva satyam” (6-1-4).
Meaning, so many utensils and useful things are made out of clay. Like earthen pots of various sizes, shapes, planters, etc. However these are the names based on the forms. The truth is all these are only clay. Likewise this illusory world seen in many names and forms is only a vachvikar. Truth is only Parmatma.
We say that God is existing in every particle and try to see God physically in every living and non living thing. There are so many books of Gitapress Gorakhpur, in which beautiful, religious photos and God Goddesses photos are given. In one of the photos you will see that inside every thing and every person there is a photo of Bhagawan Shrikrishna; In a tree, in bird, in animal and in the hearts of yogis.
Prior to meeting Guru in my life; whenever I would look at that photo, would keep on thinking for long time that how Lord Krishna having body and peacock feather crown could be inside all these entities.
In fact all these different looking entities; trees, animals, birds, and humans are Lord Shrikrishna only. Not that Lord is in every particle but every particle itself is Lord.
This is the reason why Hindus worship every thing, let that be river or ocean, land or mountain, woman or man, monkey or dog, cow or buffalo, tree or climber etc whatever is there. (They) Feed ants, insects also. Consider killing or harming anybody as a sin. Some and substance is that Lord Krishna pervades all living and non living entities in the form of Atma. He also informs Arjun that in reality I am only Atma.

“Ahamatma gudakesh sarvabhootashaya stitah।
Ahamadishcha madhyam cha bhoottanamant eva cha ।।”
Oh Arjun, residing in the hearts of all(formed by Panch Mahabhootas) the beings, I am Atma of all, as well as, I am the beginning, middle and the end of all the beings. (Nature is formed by Pancha Mahabhootas and every thing is Atma only). It is said also that Atma is Parmatma!
