ATMADHNYAN SHIGHRA SADHANA… 17

Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj

Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 17

(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)

Lord only knows about HIS deeds. Consider that you are knowledge Seeker with extreme urge (mumukshu ) means have the desire to attain Liberation in this birth only, you also met with Self Realised, experienced Guru and then if you serve your Guru with obedience, utilizing your body, resources (money, wealth) and with full mind then Parmatma Himself blesses you with eternal Knowledge makes you Dhnyani.

There is no doubt whatsoever in this. There are thousands of examples like this. There is no need of words for Guru to impart the knowledge. By only being continuously in the company of Guru, Shrutimata blesses you (with knowledge, self realization), this is an experienced truth.

Such a great miracle is performed by Parmatma that secret complex Knowledge of the Shrutis automatically dawns up on us. There is example of Satyakam in Upnishad. By obeying the Guru for being the sheferd of cows he begot the eternal knowledge. Miraculously cows started telling (him) the secret Eternal Knowledge.

It is natural to beget the fruit of obeying Guru in the form of Knowledge, Self Realization. Otherwise such egoistic people are also seen who have studied Shruti in whole of their lives and all they could get was only the meaning of the words not the knowledge or Realisation! Like that thousands of philosophers are in India and some even reached to the office of President.

Despite the Desire of Liberation getting kindled, getting audience from rarely accessible Self Realised Dhnyani Guru, still maya keeps on putting the obstacles.

Money, property, wife children are mine, I have got certain duties, I am honoured and respected in the society, these feelings do not disappear from the mind.

While serving the Guru, the thoughts appear that I am; Brahmin or Kshatriya etc, science graduate, moneyed person, servants in house, hundreds of people bow before me then why should I do this low level work, devoid of intellect? Guru recognise these thoughts in the mind immediately. Then he behaves in a friendly manner and Guru’s test for you is over. Guru thinks you to be the stupidest person.

He surely blesses you for carrying out the work, but not the knowledge. For family persons this is an excellent blessing, however For the Knowledge seeker, for ascetics, there is no exception to do service. Even while practicing asceticism, they are not ready to let go the belongings. Because they are recognized among people, have name and fame, people bow before them, give money, invite for the programs and honour them. Which ascetic would leave all this wealth and toil for knowledge? However person with the thinking of I, me, mine can neither do devotion, yog, nor any kind of spiritual practice.

The practice for Knowledge seeker is only to see Atma, listen Atma, meditate Atma, always be in the thought of Atma; as advised by Rishi Yadhnyavalkya. What is the meaning of seeing Atma, yesterday we have seen at length.

There is necessity of asan, pranayam in yog practice. What are the asan pranayam of Knowledge Seekers have been told by Bhagwan Acharya in “Aparokshanubhuti” Prakaran Granth.

“सुखेनैव भवेद्यस्मिन्नजस्त्रं ब्रह्मचिंतनम्।
आसनं तद्विजानीयोन्नेतरत् सुखनाशनम् ।।”

“Sukhenaiv bhavedhyasminnajastram brahmchintanam ।
Asanam tadvijaneeyonnetarat sukhanashanam ।।”

“State of the body in which deep thinking on Brahma can be done continuously without interruption, such kind of suitable body position is surely the asan for Knowledge seeker. Any other position against the body comfort is not an asan. (Inflicting hardship to the body by forcibly seating in one position is not asan).”

If a person doing Brahma chintan (in deep thoughts of Brahma) while lying down then his comfortable lying down position is the asan. If any Knowledge Seeker housewife is doing Brahma chintan while doing household chores then that is her asan.

A famous female Saint from Maharashtra used to do Brahma chintan while grinding the grains.

Doubt : How to practice Brahma chintan?

Listening to the advice of Shri Guru relating to Brahma (self realization, Atmadhnyan), reading the related written literature, reading Vedant Granths or listening to the authorised Vedanti person is known as “Shravan”. Keep on thinking deeply, continuously with concentration on Whatever is listened (Shravan), is Brahma chintan

Thinking on Vedvakya is also Brahma chintan.

  1. Aham brahmasmi (अहम् ब्रह्मास्मि)
  2. Tatvamasi (तत्वमसि)
  3. Sarvam khalvidam Brahma (सर्वं खल्विदम् ब्रह्म)
  4. Pradhnyanam Brahma (प्रज्ञानम् ब्रह्म)
  5. Anando brahmeti (आनंदो ब्रह्मेति)
  6. Nehananaaasti kinychan (नेहनानाsस्ति किञ्चन)
    Etc. are known as Mahavakya.

Self Realised Guru says such words which influence thinking pattern of the intellectual seeker.

Bhagawan Acharya depicts pranayam for Knowledge Seekers as below.

चित्तादिसर्वभावेषु ब्रह्मत्वेनैव भावनात् ।
निरोधः सर्ववृत्तीनां प्राणायामः स उच्चते।।

Chittadi sarvabhaveshu
brahmetvenaiva
bhavanat।
Nirodhaha sarvavruttinam
pranayamah sa uchchate ।।

Good, bad or worrying thoughts are continuously transgressing the mind of human being. This is transgression (throw) of thoughts. Considering these as the mere waves in mind, keeping them under control,
Keeping mind peaceful, understanding that all this is Brahma, is only the pranayam. (for ignorant giving trouble to the nose (breathing) is pranayam.)

In next post we will discuss Nididhyasan in details.
