Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 20

(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)

In this nature, where we are also part, Parmatma is up to the brim. Existing everywhere. But can not be seen by ignorant beings like us. We are searching for Him at places while He is there in our hearts, like a beloved person. Even after any amount of worship, prayers He is not to be seen.

And How can that be? (away from meeting us). In earlier periods the daughter in laws would be doing their work With a veil on their faces. The beloved used to be always in their minds. Even if the beloved comes how he can be seen without taking out the veil? How can both meet together? Our situation is somewhat similar.

Look at very popular Bhajan (Devotional song)

“Ghunghat ke pat khol re tohe piya milenge.”

“Remove the veil and beloved will meet you.”

Words of Saints have deep and profound meaning, with unique goal.

Living life with a veil of Ignorance and meet the Parmatma at the same time, how is that possible? By repeating name of beloved day and night beloved will not meet and by doing millions of recitations of Parmatma’s name Parmatma will not meet. Essential is to remove the veil of ignorance! Then enjoy the permanent bliss, nothing can come in the way.

Beloved Parmatma hidden in the nature and our hearts can be surely seen through Knowledge. To understand Him we need ‘Vivek Dhnyan’, (discretionary intelligence). Our Lord Ved guides us to take a path of ‘Anvaya – Vyatirek’ for acquiring ‘Vivek Dhnyan’. We will definitely learn what is, ‘Anvaya – Vyatirek’, and then we will surely be able to submit to Parmatma, “Oh! Lord now we are eligible to seek Thee”.

Let us understand the formation and removal of tension through the study of Anvaya (concurrence) and Vyatirek (distinction) as guided by Hon. Swami Vidhyaranya in his invaluable work (Granth), “Panchadashi”. However prior to that we will have to learn cause effect relationship. It is very simple. Just think on following.

Gold is the cause and jewelry is the karya, effect
Clay is the cause and ghat, earthen pot is the karya.
Thread is the cause and cloth is the karya.
Parmatma is the cause and Nature is the karya.

This is known as Karyakaranbhav (causality) of Parmatma and Nature.
Jewelry, earthen pot, cloth, Nature have concurrence of cause and effect (karan and Karya). This is Anvaya.

Now let us look at Vyatirek.

When gold is not there jewelry can not be there but when jewelry is not there gold is there.
When clay is not there earthen pot can not be there but when earthen pot is not there clay is there.
When thread is not there, cloth is not there but when cloth is not there, thread is there.
When Atma not there Nature cannot be there but when Nature is not there, Atma is there.

This is known as Vyatirek (distinction). By continuously thinking like this we understand the distinction between Brahma and Maya, Atma and Nature – anatma.

Shrimadbhagawat Mahapuran (2-9-35) gives us clue as to how this (Anvaya – Vyatirek) methodology takes effect.

“एतावदेव जिज्ञास्यम् तत्वजिज्ञासुssत्मनः।
अन्वयव्यतिरेकाभ्यां यत् स्यात् सर्वत्र सर्वदा।।”

Etavdev jidhnyasyam tatvajidhnyasuuu..tman: l
Anvayayvyatirekabhyam yat syat sarvatra sarvada ll

This (anatma) is not Brahma, this is not Brahma, in such negative way (Vyatirek); and this (Atma) is Brahma, this is Brahma in such affirmative way, it is established (for Sadhak, Seeker) that everywhere and in everything Parmatma only exists, eternaly and is omnipresent, and that is only the real quintessence (Tatva). Whoever wishes to understand Parmatma for them this much is enough. (Of course, we will have to think looking at the various things in nature that what is perishable and what is immortal, eternal. Perishable, mortal – is not Brahma. Immortal Eternal – is Brahma.)

Whoever wants to take devotional path as per Shrimadbhagawat, listen to stories, sing devotional songs, take delight in “dance and fancy dress” let them do all those things. However who wishes to understand Radha – Krishna through Vivek (discretionary intelligence) and Quintessence (Tatva), for them I present my two lines. A foolish person like me also got tempted to compose a poem on the Knowledge in Bhagvat.

राधा कृष्ण मिले है ऐसे
बन गए दोनों एक ही रूप।
किसने किसको निगल लिया है
रंक ना जाने कोई नृप।।

जब होती है इच्छा उनकी
अलग अलग दो होते है।
खेल दिखाने सृष्टि का फिर
एक साथ मिल जाते है।।

जब होती है अलग ये राधा
ना मिलती कोई पहचान।
प्रकट होते चक्रधारी प्रभु
अर्जुन को देने आत्मज्ञान।।

Radha krishna mile hai aise ban gaye dono ekahi roop l
Kisane kisako nigal liya hai rank na jane koi nrup ll
(Radha and krishna met in such a way
Both have become one. No one knows from a popper to a king as to who has consumed whom.)

Jab hoti hai ichha unaki, alag alag do hote hai.. l
Khel dikhane srishtika phir ek sath mil jate hai.. ll
When they so desire, separate they become.
To show the game of Nature meet they again together.

Jab hoti hai alag ye Radha na milati koi pahachan… l
Prakat hote chakradhari Prabhu Arjun ko dene Atmadhnyan…. ll
When this Radha separates, no recognition remains (for her existence)and Lord Shrikrishna (Chakradhari Prabhu) manifest Himself to impart Self Realisation – Knowledge to Arjun.

It is good if any of my friends get benifited by my foolish poetry and wishes to rise above duality and desire gets kindled in him to understand monistic (non-dual) Brahma.

We will have to study the guidance by Hon. Swami Vidhyaranya in next Chapter, consisting of illustration of the reason for tension. As per him the cause is the projected understanding of the gross intelligence and has proven the same.
