Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj
Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 3
We are discussing the question by Advocate Shri Arjun Singh Thakur,
“Which practice or sadhana should be undertaken to acquire Atmadhnyan? “
I am revealing the methodology to attain Atmadhnyan in shortest possible period, based on experience of my spiritual life, blessings from my Siddha Gurus and my little studies of Shastras.
Born in 1948, parents were religious, and some or the other worships, prayers would always be going on in the house. In childhood I was oriented toward devotion. I Was initiated by Hon. Nana Maharaj, Siddha Purush from Indore. Afterwards from 1992 to 2003 took lessons of Atmadhnyan from Hon. Paramdhnyani Sant Khaptinath Maharaj by being with him and doing Guruseva (selfless service to Sadguru).
Study of Guruvachan (Deciphering sacred speech of Paramguru Khaptinath Maharaj) as well as Scripture was continuously going on. First priority was service and nursing Guru. While doing that, in the year 2000 at Chandrapur, in the house of Shri Mamidwar saheb; tears rolled down my eyes when 110 years old, my Guru Sant Khaptinath Maharaj told me, “Now you have become Atmadhnyani”. What other blessings a disciple would expect from his Guru. (This is ultimate, fulfills the purpose of being human being.)
Afterwards as ordained by Paramguru Sant Khaptinath Maharaj, some people made me Guru. With this Authority (bestowed upon by Param Guru) I am writing few words of advice.
By merely learning Sanskrit, going through Vedshastra, and religious Scriptures one does not become Atmadhnyani. He may become scholar. It is possible for even an illiterate to become Atmadhnyani. We know many examples of Dhnyani yogis having very little knowledge of reading and writing.
Bhagawan Shankaracharya has made it very clear that so called Realisation, sakshatkar proclaimed by Yogis only by undertaking Yog, is not a means for Moksha (Liberation).
(Please see the comments on Brihadarannyak upnishad 1-4-7)
To the query whether mind control by pranayam (Yog) is useful for attaining Liberation (Moksha)?
The Authority on the subject (Sidhhanti) answers
“na; mokshasadhanatven anavagamat l
na hi vedanteshu brahmatma vidhnyanad anyat parampurushartha sadhanatven avagamyate Il”
Translation :
No; because that (meditation Yog) is not (considered) means for Liberation or Self Realisation.
Therefore it is essential for Seekers of Atmadhnyan to undertake the study of Vedant (Commented 11 Upanishads and Shrimadbhagavatgita). That is why, It is necessary for Atmadhnyan Seeker to have education at least up to high school. Which will enable him to read Vedant Shastra and think on the contents independently. If the seeker is highly educated then it is comparatively easier to understand Vedant.
Now a days Vedant Shastra translation is available to everybody in his own mother tongue. Beautiful Gitapress translation of Commented Upanishads is available. No specific need for learning Sanskrit.
Atmadhnyan Seeker has to put full efforts for attaining prerequisites which can be done along with these studies.
Yesterday we had seen four points which need to be followed. To day we will see further points.
- Whoever is your Guru serve him well. Dhnyani Guru does not talk any thing except Dhnyan, Shrimadbhagavatgita, Vedant Shastra; during his discourse. Keep on thinking about Dhnyan thought seeds given by Guru. If you see that your Guru is not knowledgeable about Dhnyan, or characterless change him. However (keep in mind that) judging Guru by his external behavior is difficult and only competent Guru would have the insight of other Guru.
- While undertaking Dhnyan Sadhana, it is not necessary to immediately leave the job or business, leave the house or start practicing celibacy. This all happen gradually in Dhnyan Sadhana. Inner Guru gets it done. During this practice mind becomes pure, profound, mature. Looking at your age and the responsibilities toward children make your plan for retirement from worldly life.
- If you are non vegetarian or indulging in intoxication, gambling or adultery, stop these habits as fast as possible. With these habits no spiritual practice would be successful. However do not loose heart, leaving these bad habits may take some time. Make up your mind. Start the practice (Sadhana). Inner God will definitely help you.
- If you are member of religious group with the activities of Devotion, Yog, Tantra or domestic or overseas non vaidic group; then gradually reduce taking part in the group activities. Read only Shrimadbhagavatgita, Commented Upanishads and the Scriptures mentioned earlier and keep thinking on their contents. Thinking thinking and thinking is the worship, recitation, penance, asan pranayam of the Knowledge path (Dhnyan Marg).
- If you are doing some service to mankind, protection and raising cows and trees then increase the same. If not doing, then start such activities.
- We receive tremendous information daily through external means. We also make use of the entertainment gadgets. In Dhnyan Sadhana we need to transit from gross level of intelligence and concentrate on the deciphering the nature and self by penetrative thinking. This requires the reduction of the total subjects placed in the ambit of intelligence. Therefore it is essential to reduce the input to the mind by receiving as low as possible news or other material and not to get attached to it.
With your mind all set with these ten points you can undertake the Shighra Sadhana being advised by me. Otherwise it is not impossible but quite difficult. We will discuss on actual sadhana in next chapter.
