Atmadhnyan Shighra Sadhana… 33 (Last Chapter)
(English Translation of the series in Hindi by Brahmatmaikdhnyani Sant Swami Anilji Maharaj)
Actually there is neither Knowledge nor Ignorance. Ignorance is like darkness. There is no matter existing as darkness. Had it been there, then one could have found a torch producing darkness like a torch giving light is found in market. Darkness is mere absence of light. Not a matter of its own.
Lord Sun is always shining. If a huge cloud were to cover the Sun then Sun would not be visible. That does not mean that the Sun is not there. In fact the cloud covers our eyes and not the Sun. So darkness is the issue of our eyes not of Sun.
If it would not have been the weakness of the eyes, then we would not experience darkness. Then there would only be light. With the expectation of darkness there is name for light. Otherwise there would not have been even a name for light, we would only know the name of the Sun!
Similarly ignorance is not the weakness of Knowledge, it is weakness of the intellect. Once Atma is understood, Knowledge and Ignorance both vanish, like when fire burns camphor and then both of them vanish.
“Aham Brahmasmi” Ved vakya is also ignorance. When everything is Brahma then who would tell whom that I am Brahma?
However these things are told by the Shastras; for Seekers to orient towards the idea of Knowledge and Ignorance. With ego, attachment and desire, when we ignore our own self, that is known as adhnyan (ignorance).
The face is not known till seen in the mirror. Once seen there is neither Knowledge, nor ignorance only the face! Parmatma is beyond knowledge-ignorance. The practice for Knowledge seeker is not for attaining anything new but for cleaning The hardened ignorance over the ages on our intellect.
For understanding Atmadhnyan some study is essential. Because “Shravan” is, studying Vedant principles along with the advice from Guru. Intellectual capability may be less or more, it does not matter. However cleansing and simplicity of intellect is essential.
In the past the society as a whole was almost illiterate. So brahmin community was entrusted with the study of the Scriptures so that thousands of years old our Hindu Religious Ved and other Shastra Scriptures and knowledge can be protected and passed on to the next generation.
When 95 percent people were illiterate that time the spread of Religious aspects, character building, devotion and Atmadhnyan in common people was being done through the entertaining and magical stories of Puran. However there is sea change in the situation today.
Eighty percent people are educated and able to study Vedant. Then there is neither the issue of cast nor the difference of the sexes like man or woman for attaining Atmadhnyan.
We have seen in Upnishad the Atmadhnyani ladies like Gargei and dasiputra (son of slave woman) Satyakam who was accepted by brahmin Guru. And brahmins had been seen soliciting Atmadhnyan from Kaikeya kshatriya king Ashwapati. Now a days the educated people of all the cast can study Vedant and spread the Vaidic Knowledge all over the world.
With this advice given by Sage Yadhnyavalkya to Maitrei, this series on Atmadhnyan is concluded here.
यत्र हि द्वैतमिव भवति तदितर इतरं जिघ्रति तदितर इतरं पश्यति तदितर इतरं ॐश्रृणोति तदितर इतरमभिबदति तदितर इतरं मनुते तदितर इतरं विजानाति यत्र वा अस्य सर्वमात्मैवाभूत्तत्केन कं जिघ्रे त्तकेन कं पश्येत्तत्केन कम् ॐश्रृणुयात्तत्केन कमभिवदेत्तत्केन कं मन्वीत तत्केन कं विजानीयात् । येनेदम् ॐसर्वं विजानाति तं केन विजानीयाद्विज्ञातारमरे केन विजानीयादिति ।।
Explanation :
Where (in ignorance) there is duality, one smells other, one hears other, one sees other, one salutes other, one medidates on other, one knows other.
Innumerable living and non living beings are experienced only till attainment of Atmadhnyan. This experience of duality is only known as Maya, Avidhya or ignorance. This is a matter of wonder that; as a mental patient does not know that he is mentally ill, similarly the ignorant does not know that he is ignorant. This ignorance of Self only is responsible for science – knowledge in the world, routines here are done with duality.
However for Atmadhnyani everyone, everything becomes Atma only, then through whom to smell whom, through whom to see whom, through whom to hear whom, through whom to salute whom, through whom medidate on whom, and through whom to understand whom?
Through whom Man knows everything, how to know him through whom? Everything is seen through sunlight,
In which light to see the Sun?
Oh, Maitrei, Parmatma, bestows the knowledge of everything; through which knowledge bestower Parmatma can be known?

तेजस्विनावधीतमस्तु

ॐ भद्रं कर्णेभिः श्रुणुयाम देवाः।
भद्रं पश्येमाक्षभिर्यजत्राः।
स्थिरैरंगैस्तुष्टुवाङ्गसस्तनूभिः।
व्यशेम देवहितम् यदायुः।
स्वस्ति न इन्द्रो वृद्धश्रवाः।
स्वस्ति नः पूषा विश्ववेदाः।
स्वस्ति नस्तार्क्ष्यो अरिष्टनेमिः।
स्वस्ति नो बृहस्पतिर्दधातु ॥
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥
ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदम् पूर्णात् पूर्णमुदच्यते।
पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते ॥
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥
I pray at the feet of Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj that all the readers be blessed by Him. All their sufferings and anguish should get dissolved. Earnest quest should emerge in their Antahkaran to seek, Atmadhnyan, Original Self for Experiencing Eternal Joy.
