This Scripture ‘Jeevanmuktai Vivek’ may be available at Pune. The scripture has been translated into Marathi perhaps by Pandit Jog. It was studied way back before twenty five years or so, when Swamiji was doing Guruseva.
Two words would have been listened by you. Jeevanmukta and Videhmukta. We will try to understand the subtle difference between the two.
Jeevanmukta are those who in their life itself, experience the disappearance of mala, Vikshep and Avaran. The details of these terms are explained very well in the Scripture Bhartiya Manasashastra by Shri Kolhatkar.
Mala : The desires and cravings from eons together, from umpteen numbers of births together are getting carried over along with the Karma. All these get carried over from one birth to another. The cycle is continuing. Because the state is not reached, when all these desires and cravings get fulfilled. Unfulfilled desires, cravings and Karma are passed on to the next birth. These are termed as mala.
Vikshep : Various inkling of mind for doing something, doing something other, always running from one subject to another, running from one worry to another, keep mind extremely busy at every moment. Such pseudo busy mind even prevents a thought about God coming to mind. Even if such a thought comes, it is immediately dislodged by some other worldly thought about future provisions, health, family members’ problems etc. This is Vikshep. It prohibits mind to dwell on what is Reality about myself. What is my Swaroop.
