If we don’t know what is Atma then how can we adopt the means to reach to Him. Which experience we should strive for? We must know where to reach. What are we striving for. No one else, other than Sadguru will tell this. We must think that; “It is my conviction that Sadguru only will make me understand Atma and ultimately take me to Him. Sadguru will bestow Supreme Peace, Eternal Joy and Happiness. Sadguru only will save me from the sufferings of the wicked cycle of births and deaths. Sadguru only will Bestow the boon of recognising Self”. Shastra also are pious and Sacred. Dhnyan from ancient times was bestowed from generation to generation and that experience itself has incarnated in words through Shastras. Shastras embed the experience of so many Rishis and Munis. Our full faith on Sadguru and Shastra is the prerequisite for the entry into Adhyatm.
Upanishad commented by Bhagwan Shankaracharya, very beautifully and clearly explain the subject. Sadguru also depending upon the the eligibility of the disciple shares very clearly about the subject.
If Disciple does not put efforts to refine his buddhi by continuous contemplation on Sadguru saying and Shastra, then it is not possible for buddhi to grasp the subtle principles. Person who has belief in his own wisdom and buddhi he does not have place in Adhyatm.
Even during ancient times, if one Rishi had to seek knowledge from other Rishi, the aspiring Rishi would approach with samidha (Sacred wood). Approaching with Samidha means complete surrender to Guru from whom knowledge is sought along with assurance of following celibacy. The dry sacred wood sends the message that O Guru, my ego is nonexistent, I am humbly seeking Dhnyan from you. I have come with clean slate. I do not know anything. Pray teach me O Mahatma.
