Chapter 9
Abhyasyog (5)
(Practice for imbibing Eternal Principle)
“Je je vrutti baher dhave l Tiyete paratoni anave l Yene abhyase mana sthirave l Apeap ll7ll”
We are witness to our mind. We are aware what mind is doing. Whether it is thinking on good things or unwanted things, whether it is Cheerful or morose, all that we are aware. Umpteen number of sparks go out of our mind in the form of thoughts looking for subjects. Bring back this mind from there. With The practice of concentration of mind, mind gradually, automatically gets steadily fixed.
“Natari jikade manachi rahati l N lagave tayache pathi l Maghari ghaloniya drushti l Swaswaroopi thevije ll8ll”
There are many subjects, after which mind is continuously running. We ourselves should not be with this mind who is running hither and thither. We should not go along with mind, instead we should get back the mind from the subjects and fix it into our Self, Swaroop. Concentrate the mind on Swaroop.
“Mana jo jo vishaya dhari l To to te viveke vidari l Tari te sthirave antari l Sanduni kalpana ll9ll”
We see that mind keeps on running after the thoughts of subjects. Swamiji says that take out the subject from mind. Let us try to understand by taking an example. Suppose we are sitting in meditation and while meditating we think that we had a plan to go for buying clothes. My mind got anchored to that. The thought is becoming stronger that in a little while I have to go for purchasing dresses. With that thought prevailing, mind is not able to concentrate.
Take that subject thought out by reasoning and rational thinking. We have studied that whatever we see the things or beings in the world everything is illusion. False. Nonexistent. In this example we can think that the market, clothes, shopkeepers, our body, all are false. The thought of buying clothes is troubling my mind. When nothing like that is existing then why should I get troubled by that thought. Like this, by reasoning we should decide what is appropriate and take our mind out of these false subjects. All these imagination of the mind on worldly dealings, should be made null and void. Why to let our mind go after the subjects which are nonexistent. Only concentrate on Agyachakra.
