We imagine everything with mind. Deity worship by mind is considered superior. We visualise the Deity, then worship the Deity with full rituals again visulising through mind.
Kenopnishad says mind can not reach out to Paramatma. So what all visulisation done by mind is not Paramatma. But Who bestows power of visulisation, and thinking, Who inspires to think, all knower; He is Paramatma.

Now kenopnishad is telling us about the sight seen by eyes. Upanishad says the idols of deities those we see and worship that is not Paramatma. Ishwar is not in the idols. We very emotionally worship various deities through offering flowers, fruits and other rituals. But Upanishad very clearly negates this notion percolated in our minds right from our childhood. Though it is part of character formation, now we must know that this is not the way to reach out to Paramatma. Whatever we see that is not Ishwar. Bestower of the power to see, One who inspires to see, knower of everything; He is Ishwar.

Kenopnishad now says about whatever we hear through our ears. We hear the names of Deities, we hear discourses, we hear the recitation of Mantra. We feel that God is there in that hearing. Kenopnishad says that all this that we hear through our ears is not God. One who empowers the hearing, inspires to hear, All knower; He is Paramatma.
