Ashadhi Ekadashi and Review of the Chapters 4, 5 & 6 (1)
Yesterday was Ashadhi ekadashi (July 2020). Maharashtra popular deities Pandurang, Viththal were getting earnestly worshiped. This is the biggest festival of Varkari Sect.
These devotees very earnestly pray to the deity through their songs. Everything of this attracts all the theist people. Gulabrao Maharaj of Madhan said this Varkari Sect will take a national characteristics one day. Such was the superiority of the Sect was Realised by him. Irrespective of that, Varkari Sect is known for its Pious deeds. In their songs and discourses the meanings of the poems of great Saints are explained. Tellings of Tukaram Maharaj, Dhnyaneshwar Maharaj, Namdeo Maharaj, Janabai, Eknath Maharaj, Sant Chokhamela, and many other great Saints are explained with proper illustrations. The devotees become so much absorbed and engrossed that they forget everything else.
One thing is noticeable that though these devotees continuously keep on reciting the names of Dhnyaneshwar Maharaj and Tukaram Maharaj, the mentioning of the portions in Dhnyaneshwari is negligible. Because people at large like to recite the names, musical songs, dance based on those music, some stories, depicting importance of God.
The verses of Dhnyaneshwari are little difficult to understand. There are many reviews on Dhnyaneshwari to explain the content within. But even such explanation is difficult to grasp. One more intriguing thing people see that one Shloka of Shrimadbhagavatgita is explained by Dhnyaneshwar Maharaj in 15 to 20 Shlokas with full of examples and illustrations. All these are given in the language prevalent in Twelfth – Thirteenth century. As a result the explanation of Shloka in Shrimadbhagavatgita is difficult and understanding of the ten illustrations or examples is again a difficult task. On the whole for people in general it is somewhat complex.
