SHATAPANCHASHIKA STOTRA… 21

Pranam to Parampoojya Parameshwar Sadguru Swami Anilji Maharaj

Shatpanchashika Stotra.. 21

(Based on the discourse in Hindi by Parampoojya Swami Anilji Maharaj)

“Karan vyavaharaistu Kutasthatma n lipyate l N lipyate Yatha kuto lohanamapi tadanai ll30ll”

Blacksmith places the piece of iron on the anvil, and then subject the iron piece to numerous forceful strokes of the hammer to effect the desired change in the form of the piece. However anvil does not get affected in any way. Anvil remains the same. In the same way, functioning of body through various organs does not affect inner Atma – Kutastha. Nothing can touch Atma.

“Tattanmaya ivabhatooopyatma koshebhya uttaraha I Tebhyo vivechitaha Shuddhaha sfatiko rangato Yatha ll31ll”

When Pure crystal is kept on colored paper or cloth, it appears to have the same color. But the crystal is Pure and Clear. It does not have any color. Similarly Atma being inside the five casings, appears to be body. But after rationalised and analytical thinking with Vivek, we realise that Atma is absolutely Pure and can not be touched by anything.

What are the five casings?

Jeeva is encapsulated in five sheaths. Jeevatma appears to be residing within them but is completely separate.

These five sheaths are as follows :

  1. Sheath formed by food :
This is the visible gross body formed by food.
  2. Pranamaya Kosh : This sheath is the gases carrying out the various activities of the body. There are five kind of gases carrying out different functions.
Pran, Apan, Vyan, Udan, Saman are these Vayu or gases.
  3. Manomaya Kosh : This Kosh is the Kosh of mind. Thinking, buddhi, concentration takes place within this Kosh
  4. Vidhnyanmaya Kosh : In this Kosh buddhi is enabled to grasp Material and Spiritual Dhnyan.
  5. Anandmay Kosh : Joy of material plane is experienced through this Kosh

The gross and subtle body is made up of these five sheaths or Kosh. With Vivek, rationalised and analytical thinking, keeping aside these perishable sheaths with Blessings of Sadguru one reaches to our Immortal Self. That is Atma. That is ‘I’, in reality, to whom we keep on telling as I day in and day out.
